We moved into our new, significantly bigger, workshop earlier this year in a bit of a rush. Once we had completed the manufacture of Holme House Farm, the next task was to build ourselves a nice cosy office to work from.

Originally designed as the first Wikihouse Skylark prototype, we’d actually manufactured a garden office the previous year from our old workshop, so we shipped it over to the new space to start assembly. Luckily for us, the space had an existing mezzanine which was the perfect size to take our OSB prototype. The only hitch was that our original design had windows on the shorter side. As our mezzanine was quite tight at the eaves of the building, we needed to modify the structure to infill the old windows and cut new ones into the side facing out into the workshop but it came out seamless with our self built window frames.

Insulated with a combination of 150mm celotex board and some left over rockwool, this cosy cabin office also has double glazed windows and now a custom made arched doorway to keep the warmth in. We’re very happy with how this has come together and it makes for a lovely light and warm working space to create your future Wikihouse timber frame from.
